About me

I’ve taken a non-traditional path to data analytics, and I consider it one of my greatest strengths. My career began with a passion for journalism, earning a diploma from Langara College in 2018. I followed my dream to Costa Rica, working as a journalist for the Tico Times, the country’s primary English-language news outlet. There, I covered a wide range of topics, including technology, politics, and the environment—honing my ability to tell compelling stories across diverse fields.

After Costa Rica, I moved to Montreal, where I transitioned into web development. From 2019 to 2021, I worked remotely with various clients, including CHU Sainte-Justine’s mental health research department, building websites and learning technical skills that opened new doors. My experience working with researchers expanded my appreciation for the power of data and user-centric design.

During the pandemic, I noticed an unsettling shift in the news. Journalists with little background in math or statistics were suddenly responsible for explaining complex numbers and data trends to the public. This inspired me to bridge the gap between storytelling and data literacy. I immersed myself in learning statistics and data science, driven by the idea that data can reveal deeper truths. This intersection of data and storytelling became my passion and purpose.

In 2021, I completed an intensive Data Science bootcamp at BrainStation and transitioned into my current role as a Data Analyst at FlightHub. Since joining, I’ve built a robust, cross-functional skillset that spans data engineering, machine learning, dashboard creation, and executive reporting. My ability to solve complex problems with data, combined with my journalism background, gives me a unique edge—helping me uncover insights, communicate findings effectively, and drive informed decision-making.
